Surrey Junior Championship 2010

The Surrey Junior Championships were held at Burhill Golf Club on Monday 12th April. 24 girls competed for a variety of trophies including the Junior Champion, Handicap Champion, U15 and U13 Trophies, as well as a prize for the best stableford score!
The Junior Championship, Handicap Champion and U15 trophies were decided after 36 holes of medal on the Old course in the morning and the New course in the afternoon. At llunch Daisy May Kenny, Charlotte Griffith and Samantha Fuller were all tied for the lead with rounds of 79. In the afternoon the wind picked up and created some very challenging conditions on the exposed New Course. Daisy May played extremely well to shoot 77, whilst Sammy managed an impressive 84. Unfortunately for Charlotte she retired after 9 holes due to ill health.
Daisy May won both the Junior Championship and Handicap Championship with her gross 156, nett 146. Whilst Sammy Fuller took home the trophies for the best score by an Under 15 year of 163, and the best U13 score of 79.

Many, many thanks to Burhill Golf Club for its continued support of Junior Golf. The welcome was extremely warm, and the courses and facilities were impeccable. Thank you also to Helen Williams and Penny Hall for their excellent organisation, and finally to all the Surrey Junior committee and helpers without which none of these events could go ahead.
